Happy library opening the future

The library was built as a rural library with the help of a special subsidy tax of 500 million won that was provided to address residents' needs due to the aging of the existing municipal library branch in Seonsan. Creation of the library ensured balanced regional development after urban-rural integration, and it was intended to be used as a cultural space that can respond to the informatization trend by expanding opportunities for cultural exchange and emotional cultivation of rural residents.

In April 2003, the city of Gumi established a cultural infrastructure establishment plan and secured a total project cost of KRW 5.6 billion, with KRW 1.5 billion coming from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, KRW 500 million from local subsidies, and KRW 3.5 billion from municipal expenditures. After the feasibility study and site purchase, the Seonsan Library construction design competition was held on November 19, 2004, and the library was finally established on June 4, 2005. Seonsan Library (1 floor below ground and 3 above ground) was completed in May 2007, and was opened together with the Bonggok Library in November of the same year.
